European Union Film Festival 2009
European
cinema is coming to a screen near you! For the 18th time the European
Union Film Festival brings the best of European film to Thailand, offering
audiences a world class selection of drama, comedy, romance, suspense and
documentary 23 films from 17 European countries feature in the programme of the
2009 festival.
The
EU Film Festival runs in Chiang Mai on 5 to 15 November at The Vista
Kadsuankaew and in Bangkok on 19 to 29 at
SF World Cinema.
The
highlights of the 2009 film festival include feature films which have won
multiple prestigious awards such as California
Dreaming (Romania), One Beloved Month of August (Portugal), Adventures (Hungary) and Ben X (Belgium). For the first
time there is also a grand selection of documentary films such as Citizen Havel (Czech Republic), Sounds Like Teen Spirit (UK), La Paloma-Longing Worldwide (Germany) and Good Morning Heartache (Italy).
The
film festival will open with Zozo, an
extraordinary story of the journey of a young Lebanese immigrant to Sweden, based on real
life experiences of the film's director.
The films from Germany,
Netherlands and Poland have Thai subtitles, otherwise the films are subtitled
in English.
The EU Film Festival 2009
is organised by the Delegation of the European Commission to Thailand and the
Embassies and cultural organisations of the EU Member States.
